Description
When making changes in a project without write access, GitHub will automatically create a fork and display a tip (first screenshot). The text "created a fork of this project" in the tip is bold, I think it's a good candidate for putting a link to the fork.
If the fork is already created, the description will change to include the forked repo name (second screenshot).
Also, the branch references in hovercards can also be linkified:
