Safari extension does not appear #4216

I installed App Store version of the Refined GitHub, and there is nothing in my Safari extension. If I click “Quit and Open Safari Extensions Preferences”, nothing happened either. I tried reinstalling and rebooting my Mac, did not work.

Refined GitHub: 14.0.3 (16610.4.3.1.7) Mac: Mac mini (M1, 2020) OS: 11.2.3 (20D91) Safari: 14.0.3 (16610.4.3.1.7)

Yep, same problem on my computer starting this week. Same versions, except mine is Intel.

The App Store version is 21.4.6. None of the Safari I published load on my computer, which leads me to believe that the core app we're using is broken in some way.

It works for me in a new macOS user profile, which leads me to believe it's a configuration issue (together with a bug of our app)

Strange. It works perfectly fine on my computer. macOS 11.2.3 (Intel).

I would recommend checking logs in the Console app. It usually logs there if there are problems.

If the extension does not show up in Safari, try running the below command in the terminal and restart your computer:

/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Support/lsregister -f /Applications/Safari.app

That worked 🤔

Worked for me too.

Super weird. Can you also make sure you don't have a development version of the Safari extension somewhere on your computer. Sometimes that can interfere. (For example, the one in distribution/build).

I really hope it's just a macOS bug that will be fixed in the upcoming macOS 11.3 release.

I built Refined Github for Safari a long time ago(3~4 month ago), but I am pretty sure that I deleted everything including Xcode cache and build folders.

Experiencing the same bug on my MacBook Air 2020 (M1) with MacOS 11.2.3 & Safari 14.0.3.

The workaround worked for me.

Let me know if I can provide any logs, etc. that may help you (-:

This has been “fixed” in v21.4.12. It appears to be a system bug so in this new version we just suggest how to fix it instead of showing an empty app.

Apparently not. Reopening for visibility
